STEP 1 - FOOT BATH
According to Traditional Chinese Medicine, soaking feet in salt water may help to ground the body’s energy and assist with sleep and anxiety. If you don’t have a bath or prefer an alternative, a soothing foot bath is a perfect option.
Prepare a foot bath or bowl with warm water & a small handful of Comforting Bath Salts, give it a swirl.
Place feet in the water, check the temperature is suitable.
Take a few moments to appreciate the calming aroma this blend offers.
Alternatively, run a full bath, sprinkle a generous handful of the Comfort Bath Salts in and swirl the water helping them dissolve. As you sink your body in the bath water, set an intention to let go of any stress as you focus on your breathing.
STEP 2 - BREATHE
Ideally combine this breath work with a bathing ritual
Alternatively, find a comfortable position, seated of lying down
Place one hand on your belly and the other on your heart
Inhale deeply through your nose, feeling your belly rise
Exhale slowly through your mouth, releasing any tension
Repeat this 2 - 3 times
Return to the natural rhythm of your breathing in your own time
STEP 3 - MASSAGE
Take 5 - 6 drops of oil into your palms and rub them together to warm it up.
Gently massage the oil onto your belly in circular, clockwise motions. This can help improve circulation, support the skin and create a moment of relaxation and closeness with your baby.
Use long, soothing strokes to alleviate any swelling or discomfort from the feet and legs, moving upwards towards the heart.
Use long, soothing strokes to alleviate any swelling or discomfort from the hands and arms, moving inwards towards the heart.
Massage the oil to the neck, shoulders and chest with gentle, circular motions. Be extra delicate, as this area can be tender.
If any of these areas are hard to reach, ask a loved one for help.
To finish, sit or lie down comfortably, allowing the oil to absorb into your skin. Breathe slowly & deeply, enjoying a moment of calm and connection with your body and baby.
