Grounding Ritual
STEP 1 - BREATHE
Ideal as a pre bedtime ritual for both parent and child
Take a pea sized amount and allow it to soften and warm between your palms, guide your child to do the same. While you both hover your hands over your face, inhale the calming aroma for a moment or two.
Guide your child through this easy to follow breathing exercise called Balloon Breathing:
Ask them to imagine that their belly is a balloon. Ask them to “Take in a slow, deep breath and imagine filling up the balloon, then exhale slowly, deflating the balloon in your belly.
Let’s do this again, but this time if you feel comfortable you can close your eyes. Focus on filling your belly with air and noticing the belly getting bigger. As you exhale, imagine the balloon slowly floating away high up into the sky.” Repeat 2 - 3 times together.
STEP 2 - MASSAGE
Guide your child as you show them how to massage the balm in circular motions on the pulse points at the wrist and temples, this is particularly soothing any time they may be feeling stressed or worried.
Sweeping motions across the chest allows them to inhale the aroma while they sleep.
This balm is especially loved when rubbed onto the feet before bed.
